Snowstorms have continued to devastate parts of the US and Canada, with dozens of cities stuck under metres of snow. 9News

Lakefront homes in Ontario, Canada were encased in a thick, spiky coat of ice after last weekend's blizzard whipped frigid waves on shore.

"So, you can just imagine the sheer volume and strength of water coming up over the wall to hit it and then freeze – flash freeze – immediately.The community is west of Erie County, New York, where the death toll from the historic blizzard has climbed to over three dozen, most of them in the city of Buffalo.In the town of Fort Erie, overnight low temperatures dropped into the single digits during the storm – around 20 degrees below average for this time of year.
