A 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a deadly shooting in Potrero, a sheriff’s official said Friday.
Jail records indicate the suspect, Richard Allen Arnold, was booked into custody Thursday evening, and is due to be arraigned next week in El Cajon Superior Court.Steffen said the two men were acquaintances who lived in motor homes on the same Harris Ranch Road property, north of Campo Road. Deputies responded to that property about 8 a.m. Thursday after a neighbor called to report an assault with a deadly weapon. DeputiesParamedics took Stewart to a nearby Cal Fire station and called for an air ambulance, but Stewart died before the helicopter arrived.
Authorities learned that another man — identified as Arnold — fled the scene in a motor home. Deputies found and stopped him on state Route 94 about two miles west of the shooting scene.Investigators asked that anyone with information about the incident call the sheriff’s Homicide Unit at 285-6330 during business hours, or 565-5200 after hours.
