SophyRidgeSky ipaperviews This is the wrong way of looking at the question. Both rents and sale prices are unaffordably high because of a shortage of housing. We need major, rapid relaxation of the planning process and reform of the building sector to get much more built.

SophyRidgeSky ipaperviews The government needs to seriously consider the tax position for private landlords who perhaps like me invested in a second property as a pension pot and now find it uneconomic to rent out. Many are selling up. Mortgage costs deductible only for businesses.

What's with the attitude of leaving homeowners vulnerable, especially when hard honest work & control of finances have enabled home ownership!
