The Government's flagship National Disability Strategy is to be scrapped after the High Court deemed it unlawful but ministers are set to produce a new policy

“Disabled people are still waiting. In the wake of the pandemic and the cost of living crisis, it has never been more important for the government to listen to the voices of disabled people.”

In the party’s 2019 election manifesto, the Conservatives pledged to publish a “National Strategy for Disabled People before the end of 2020”. The long-term strategy was published in July 2021 following delays caused, in part, by the Covid-19 pandemic But this is not a replacement for the National Disability Strategy which was supposed to set out a long term vision for including accessibility in Government decisions.
