Charlottetown Mayor Philip Brown said increasing the stock of affordable housing will be one of the city’s top goals in 2023.

Brown said if the city reduced the requirement in its bylaw to .34 acres it would make a big difference. He added the city will continue with its standing committee on affordable housing and offer a tax incentive to developers and non-governmental organizations that meet the provincial requirements for affordable housing.

Scott Adams, manager of public works, said the city will be getting started on the Eastern Gateway Master Plan. Once complete, the parkway will link up to Grafton Street at a new signalized intersection near the Holland College parking lots. Brown is hoping to have more information to share with council and the public sometime during the first week of January.• Schematic drawings of new Simmons Sport Centre are released to public.• Province tells city to resolve the issue of Coun.
