Clarke_Melissa So privatised aged care isn't going smoothly. 🙄Der! Tax payers will no doubt fund the Commission. That thrills us, paying to ensure facilities run by large multi nationals are compliant. At least it's better than self-regulation. Very offensive for the aged & their families.

Clarke_Melissa AGEDCARE FACILITIES ARE PRIVATE BUSINESSES RUN FOR PROFIT, GOVERNMENTS NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT QUALIFIED NURSING STAFF WHO UNDERSTAND THE ELDERLY, ARE EMPLOYED TO LOOK AFTER THEM, AND NOT INDIVIDUALS WHO DONT HAVE THE RIGHT MENTAL ATTITUDE FOR THIS SPECIALISED WORK. DO NO HARM

Clarke_Melissa Get out of Paris Agreement also the UN. So we can spend money on our own people who have deserved to be looked after late in there life. Australians come first.

Clarke_Melissa Improve staff to resident ratios. And for god's sake improve wages of staff.

Clarke_Melissa The rules are devised to protect capitalism ! Any nursing home can document they are giving certain standard of care but thay aren’t in reality ! I have a big year ahead as I now start a complaint of 18 months of neglect ! ( I moved him 6 weeks ago ) thank god & he’s improving !

Clarke_Melissa I’d prefer to be dead than “living” in one of those places. & I’d feel that way no matter how well run they are. When I can’t make my own decisions I don’t want anyone else making them for me, & I’ll be quite happy to call my time here done

Clarke_Melissa . More aged-care audits are great, but funding and access also need to be addressed. More needs to be done upstream to address the social and environmental causes of chronic disease. Neighbourhood houses need funding for free activities and transport to and from the venue. .

Aged care watchdog vows to target problem providers | Sky News AustraliaNewly appointed aged care enforcer Janet Anderson has vowed to target problem providers with a pattern of abuse in a major industry crackdown.\n\nSpeaking to News Corp ahead of the royal commission into aged care, Ms Anderson says she will not accept funding cuts as an excuse for harm.\n\nIt comes as the independent Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission is established with a four-year budget of almost $300 million, which aims to carry out hundreds more checks of nursing homes. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Enforce what? Ratios? Staffing levels? These dont exist. Age care providers are weeding out RNs. Enforce the retention of RNs? Age care providers run their facilities with the lowest staffing levels possible and bully staff to work smarter and to mask the real situation. JOKE. No excuse for abuse ever, but not enough staff to cater for the needs of residents is the biggest and consistent form of abuse and it goes on day after day. I have been listening to this 'WE WILL FIX THE PROBLEM 'rhetoric for 25 years. Enough already.
