KUALA LUMPUR - Opposition politicians in Malaysia have pulled the race card over the government’s decision to consult Singapore’s HDB on building affordable housing, highlighting the tightrope Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is walking as he faces an almost entirely Malay-Muslim opposition.
The charges by the PN politicians have mostly centred on Penang – the only state in Malaysia with a Chinese majority – as an example. where they claim low Malay property ownership was a result of DAP’s policies since it took over the state administration in 2008. “DAP wants to use the ministry as its starting point to realise this agenda. If they succeed, this will be a disaster for Malays,” he said.
“PN is looking to improve its performance from the last general election and make further inroads with Malay votes.”The accusations have forced PH leaders to go on the defensive, insisting that they were not trying to undermine the Malay majority.
Malaysia gov is racist.
It's about learning how to build affordable homes for Malaysians. It's not about the race quota. The further is about ability and knowledge. The latter is about policies, they are not the same. Don't play this card to further your own agenda.
