It turns out ANZ Banking Group’s new stake in View Media Group isn’t the first time it’s tried to get into the real estate game.

About five years ago, ANZ Banking Group had its eyes on a 20 per cent stake in Domain Holdings Australia, which was relatively new to the ASX-bourse and struggling to set the market alight.Peter Wallis

ANZ boss Shayne Elliott was heavily involved in the talks – as was then Domain chief executive Antony Catalano – who was said to be keen on taking ANZ’s money and working together.
