The move is a bid to boost the numbers of affordable homes around Glasgow.

Social housing could be built inside private estates as the council bids to boost the numbers of affordable homes around Glasgow.

Other councils in Scotland already see builders required to erect a number of homes available for social rent as part of approval for private housing developments.Councillor Anthony Carroll, Scottish Greens, asked for information on the proposed policy at last week’s economy, housing, transport and regeneration city policy committee.

He also queried whether there would be requirements for proper amenities, including public and active transport, to be delivered. “We have started discussions with planning colleagues as the actual mechanism for delivering that affordable housing policy is through the planning system.”

I thought a % of all new build sites were sold as ‘affordable’. Obviously the term is misleading as it’s prob 250k which many couldn’t afford.

Glasgow live could do some ACTUAL journalism and do a request for the the land deeds of Pollok Park. They would see that wheatleys name is all over them.

So, we have to rent off of the private estate, aswell as Wheatley? Wait until people find out that GCC gave large chunks of Pollok park to Wheatley, in the Cayman Islands.
