As Texans file insurance claims for the weather damage, Abbott has brought attention to the iSTAT damage survey. It’s a voluntary tool to report property damage around the state, but it does not take the place of your insurance coverage.

“The State of Texas continues deploying assistance and providing all available resources to those impacted by this week’s severe winter weather,” said Abbott. “As communities across the state begin to recover, Texans who have experienced property damage to their homes and businesses as a result of this winter weather event are encouraged to report it through the iSTAT survey.

The iSTAT survey will help emergency management officials identify the immediate needs of the community. Applicants can fill out the survey in English or Spanish. Information collected from the survey gives officials a better understanding of the damages and helps them gauge the best response. Also, officials can see if the state is adhering to federal requirements for various forms of federal disaster assistance.
