The 1929 home was designed by John Hagy, one San Antonio's most sought-out builders during the first half of the last century. His custom work for deep-pocketed clients dots not just Monte Vista but also Terrell Hills and Alamo Heights.

This Tutor-style home encompasses 3,500 feet on a half-acre lot, and its interior features include a massive living room with exposed cathedral-like ceiling beams, multiple arched doorways and a wood-paneled sunroom and bar area. The grand staircase also features a Hagy trademark: its railing is made of wrought iron with a bannister made of leather-encased rope.

The current owners purchased the three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath home in the 1980s after a major renovation, according to its agent. Although the sales listing notes that the structure is again in need of a major reno, the writeup trumpets an"incredible opportunity to bring this historic home to renewed grandeur."
