Fire and Rescue NSW Assistant Commissioner Trent Curtin says as Australians adopt more technologies the number of “lithium-ion” battery fires has increased.

“I’m really concerned about the fires we’re seeing, fire services right across Australia have seen an increase in the number of fires involving lithium-ion batteries,” Mr Curtin told Sky News host Chris Kenny.

“As we bring more devices into our homes – firefighters are experiencing a significant increase in the number of fires. “Predominantly we’re seeing that comes from poor quality products or products not being treated properly.”
