SAN DIEGO – San Diego leased a former motel in Barrio Logan today to create a new shelter for families with children experiencing homelessness.
The 42-room site will serve up to 164 individuals and provide an administrative office, laundry room, break room and parking lot. The lease is for an initial seven-month term, with two one-year extension options. According to a city statement, non-congregate shelters allow for individualized service and increased engagement on participants’ part to help resolve their homelessness.
The department will use about $350,000 awarded to the city as part of the county’s $10 million Capital Emergency Housing Solutions Grant Program. Officials are “currently working to begin capital improvements and identify a service provider to operate the shelter to serve residents in need as quickly as possible,” a city statement read.
A giant tent in Ocotillo Wells would have been cheaper. But MayorToddGloria needs to feed the machine (Hoteliers & Homeless Advocates). Make SanDiego a HoboFreeZone
They should have leased an apartment building in Las Vegas, Phoenix, Tuscon, Reno or some other less expensive place to live. There are other places to live if you can’t afford to live here. Let’s help people start their life in a more affordable area.
Everyone deserves shelter.

Curious what they did with the new, unused trailers
Shocking! Someone better go out there tonight and see how old the prostitutes are. I'm sure that will make for another great sting operation. This has gone too far. AuditToddGloria
