To solve the problem of shortage of potable water supply in Delta State, the state government has called on private operators to partner with the state to manage its various water schemes and make water available in all homes. Delta State Commissioner for Water Resources, Samuel Mariere, made this known while speaking with journalists in Asaba.

The commissioner revealed that the state government is desirous to see that the water schemes are properly managed for optimal performance, adding that interested operators should come forward for negotiations. Mariere noted that to make the project viable and sustainable, Deltans must pay water rate. According to him, the payment is not about profit to the government, but to raise money to fund the system and also to make water supply regular.
