The province already had enough land to hit goal of 1.5 million homes before it approved development in protected areas, new research shows

held in advance of the wedding of Mr. Ford’s daughter and the fact that prominent building-industry figures, described by the Premier as personal friends, attended the wedding itself.

Mr. Eby and several other members of the government’s Greenbelt advisory council resigned in 2020 to protest the province’s changes to the powers of local conservation authorities. The report was commissioned by a coalition calling itself the Alliance for a Liveable Ontario. NDP Leader Marit Stiles said the report shows the government did not need to open the Greenbelt to solve the housing crisis.

“We are raising these issues because Ontarians are deeply concerned,” Ms. Stiles said. “And I think the government showed yet again how desperate they are to avoid those questions.”

How about sustainable apt. buildings or building over stores instead of massive expensive houses?

And some is in the Greenbelt.

Yeah but Ford's developer buddies would not profit!

At this point how is it not obvious that the opening up of this restricted lane was solely to benefit specific buyers of the land and ford himself. There virtually no other explanation. The timing of the purchases and confirmed relationships are not a coincidence.

Sunnydays180 Not sure how this enriches fordnation and his donors

FarmersFeedCities & we deed to support them! HandsOffTheGreenbelt fordnation We import too much already & if we don't stop talking farmland we risk our own supply of fresh produce we grow right here in Ontario !!!

And how will people get to these homes?…oh yeah, drive on the same existing highways with no money spent on public transit.

build baby build

Definitely in Kapuskasing ….

Well, sure, but how much of that land is owned by friends of Doug Ford?

Every one of those homes needs to be donated to a homeless CANADIAN resident, before any other person gets a chance at it. No foreign nationals, no private sales, not until every Canadian already on our soil is taken care of and we are out of debt.

Densification is a curse. Few understand.
