MultiChoice says its been working with a top law firm to enforce its intellectual property rights and appreciates the support of the police and customs authorities.

MultiChoice has announced that South African police seized and saw to the destruction of 5,000 counterfeit remote controls that infringed on the company’s DStv logo trademark.

It said the counterfeit goods were rightfully confiscated by the South African Police Service and customs authorities before the Electronic Cemetery disposed of them in an environmentally-friendly way. “We have been working closely with Adams & Adams to address this issue, and we are also grateful for the support of the SAPS and Customs authorities.”For this reason, it supports Partners Against Piracy, a Pan-African campaign to fight content piracy.

“Our efforts in this regard are part of a broader campaign aimed at protecting consumers and businesses from the dangers of counterfeiting.”

I'm glad to see that SAPS has its priorities in the right place. My family and I sleep better at night knowing that we won't get murdered...... I mean, that those fake remotes are safely destroyed. Phew, great work team.

Just so I understand and I KNOW you are all about tech and cooking... But why is this newsworthy? And no I didn't read the article... Is it parody?
