A big landlord who controls 60,000 homes is funneling money into a political action group that could urge lawmakers to curb renter protections

The landlords that control thousands of homes are girding for a political fight over regulation. As tenant advocates met with the White House and pushed the Biden administration to take action on high housing costs in November, one of America's largest single-family landlords was preparing its own move.

So far, the PAC doesn't have much to show for itself. According to Federal Election Commission filings, it has received $5,000 donations from AMH CEO and co-founder Dave Singelyn and Lou Hayden, the senior vice president of government affairs.

The 'big landlord' is $AMH, a company despised for jacking up rents while performing little or no maintenance on its rentals. BlackRock is of course a major $AMH shareholder.
