The new building housing roughly 2,500 artifacts was named for the family of Shannon Ralston, who donated $11.4 million to the Alamo.

A tour group gathers around a miniature replica of the Alamo battleground in the Ralston Family Collections Center during a discussion led by Ernesto Rodriguez, senior curator and historian at the Alamo.Visitors and Alamo officials gathered outside the new 24,000-square-foot, $15 million Alamo Collections Center for a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday to celebrate its opening and unveil its official name: the Ralston Family Collections Center.

“It’s imperative that we honor our history exactly as it occurred and tell the stories that will inspire the minds of future generations,” said Ralston, who was joined by her family and business colleagues. “This is a perfect project for my family to reinvest in Texas, to honor the past, to celebrate where we are today and to be a part of educating many future generations,” Ralston said.
