One funeral director told CTV News Toronto he receives a few requests a month from executors trying to retrieve camera roll photos, access digital documents, and more.

Passcodes, in many cases, were never communicated to the people managing the estate, and whether it is to salvage family photos or disarm the security system of the home they now need to access, executors are hoping to break in with biometrics.“The last resort for a family member often is [to] go to the funeral home, get an image of the body, and then gain access to the systems. It’s a grisly problem.

In one case, he said, the next-of-kin had to break a window to get into the deceased person’s home, since the doors were keyless and accessible only through the phone. “Generally I don’t think people really expect that someone would be going through their phone after they’re dead,” University of Toronto bioethicist Kerry Bowman said.

A one-bedroom in Toronto now costs over $2,500 a month — with no relief in sightThe financial squeeze continues for Toronto renters who have to move in today’s market, as new data shows the average one-bedroom listing hit $2,501 per month in February. It’s ridiculous that rents are so high. Government made problem. Toronto's residents literally voted for sky-high rent and real estate. This is democracy in action. Now they want to cry about the obvious outcomes of their own voted-in policies?! What a joke.
