Court records say that family members told police Artemio Maldonado, 18, and Azucena Sanchez, 20, might have killed the group. Relatives said Sanchez was the ex-girlfriend of Juan Diego Cruz and that the two had been involved in a custody dispute over their son. Sanchez and Maldonado made multiple threats against Juan Diego Cruz as a result of the dispute, according to records.
A little over two hours after the victims were found, police said they found Maldonado’s Mustang in the 2700 block of Northaven Road and arrested Maldonado and Sanchez on capital murder charges just after 10 p.m. They remained in Dallas County jail Tuesday with their bail set at $1 million.
