Money takes time effort & dedication as does children, you do not always have time for both. When you worship things people get lost. Balance takes mindfulness that is not being taught or learned. When mom & dad get lost in false goals how can they help the children?

My East End neighbourhood has some of the best well rounded children. They laugh, play and yell 'hi' as they ride past me on their bikes. West Van is so far gone I don't even consider it part of Vancouver anymore.

These people are rich enough that the govt shouldn’t have to solve the problem. Feel bad for the other kids in their school tho.

So millionaires move to a neighbourhood with NOTHING in it and we’re supposed to feel bad As someone who got to know it a bit this spring, it is awful. No sidewalks, some of the tackiest architecture you’ve ever seen, and seemingly no rules on cutting down trees. Gross.

Umm this article is 4 years old!!!!

They are 'house poor'.

Simple declare no income when you’re rich , and qualify for subsidies

How many of these are parasitic satellite families, where daddy makes millions working in China, & mummy & kids declare poverty to get social assistance while daddy pays all the bills, buys all the cars, food, etc., and they leech off our social system, contributing nothing?

Why isn't speaking an official language a requirement of citizenship? It's the Balkanisation of Canada. Idiots in charge.

Thanks for the article. Now i know what area I'd need to avoid like plague if I won a lottery!

ESL, poor social development and can't tie their own shoes?

Because they are English a second language probably is my guess. They will be fine.

What sacrifices have to be made to afford that lifestyle?

Isolation.

please define “vulnerable”. Sometimes b we use terms that are a real slap to the poor people in BC. I mean the poor ones, the ones we feed, find clothes for and even sometimes bring a hairdresser at school for a little girl that needs it. I would need to see it to believe it.

WestVanRT 3. Of all our kids friends/peers in public school, maybe 20% own the house they’re in. The rest of us are renting by choice in a community that has a lot to offer families.

WestVanRT 2. Sentinel_SD45 is academically one of the best high schools in the country. It has excellent academy programs that provide ground breaking opportunities for students to pursue their chosen passion in the afternoon blocks while having academics in the mornin.

WestVanRT 1. Our kids go to the public schools in the BP’s. The article neglects to mention that most, if not all, of the families who use the Properties Hub are home renters actually. They WV because the public schools are amazing.

Extreme wealth is NOT typically the ideal environment to grow up in. High rates of problems and entitlement down the road.

What a poorly edited article, grammar wise, and the author comes across as embittered. I hope reassesses the worthiness of this contributor.
