The province has committed to ensuring long-term care residents receive, on average, four hours of direct care per day by March 31, 2025.
The money announced today is for the third of a four-year, $4.9-billion commitment to hire and retain more than 27,000 registered nurses, registered practical nurses and personal support workers. Long-Term Care Minister Paul Calandra says hiring more staff will allow residents to connect to the care they need in the comfort of their long-term care home.
Direct care includes personal care, such as help with dining, bathing and dressing, as well as helping residents move and providing medication. The government says the province met its interim target of three hours of care in 2021-22, but can't say yet if the target for this year will be met, as there are still two weeks left in this fiscal year.
Using taxpayers money to clean the mess LTC CEOs and board members created. Excuse well if we had of managed this in the first place we would be spending taxpayers money anyway. Yes but now your putting money in the hands of the guys who fucked uo you’re lining pockets.
Typical ! Let’s forget about the dietary and housekeeping staff. Let’s just focus on the registered staff & the P.S.W’s (both of which have already got huge increases) ….. everyone else can go suck it
Let’s see details. Not one penny should go to private for profit facilities. Drop appeal to Bill 124 and pay front line health care workers decent wage and provide paid sick days. Until we see that, it’s all smoke and mirrors. Don’t trust these grifters and liars.
Pay close attention to the PSW's working in LTC. Some have personalities that should be working in a correctional facility.
More cash for cronies.
