The gov successfully used that tactic against the private individuals. Why wouldn’t they use it against business entities? Instead of locking them up, the gov can charge them huge penalties. US have done that to Japanese automakers during the difficult time for US manufacturers.
There are only 2 roads from here: either crush Huawei in one fell swoop now, or regret when Huawei and China take over and dominate the 5G, 6G, 7G... markets (because the US is sitting on her hands now hoping China will show her mercy in the future)
If the US is serious about doing whatever to Huawei, she’d better do it quick. Looking at the way things go, it’s very likely Huawei will dominate the 5G markets outside the Five Eyes, while multiple smaller US/European players compete for business in the Five Eyes.
Logistically this policy will suit the US since it is the leader in Tech development. Chances are Chinese companies will be dealing in grey areas & subject to criminal charges. Israel & India are the next biggest deployers of US tech.
Let's get real the only reason why U.S. is so obsessed with Huawei is because that company is taking away a huge part of the market and continues growing (and rightly so) If Huawei didn't were putting IPhone to tremble they wouldn't be paying any attention to that company
Stealing IP is a crime. Huawei has done it for years and everyone in the industry knows it.
Coporate squabbles is an amazing an amazing misdirect, glad to know who pays the wsj.
