As experience has shown, establishing ownership of a house, waiting for probate to be completed, or carrying out a compulsory purchase order can be arduously slow processes and very costly.
However, the Government admitted that it did not meet its target of 9,000 social homes, and that it fell short of its targets for affordable homes and cost rental. Take-up has been low so far for shared equity schemes, and for local authority affordable purchase schemes, where the authority can retain a stake of up to 30 per cent in the home.
I'd say it would be easy to build all houses we need if no workers high wages and extensive labor rights. Oh, wait...

The solution to the housing crises is to remove those that caused it from power.
All parties have housing policies, problem seems to be having the people with the ability to put the policies into operation. Be that at gov, Dept & council level. Planning objections, judicial reviews, water/sewerage/power networks & labour shortages all adding to the problem.
