Housing Minister Julie Collins is struggling to reach a deal for the $10 billion Housing Affordability Investment Fund.Following negotiations over the weekend between Climate Minister Chris Bowen and Greens leader Adam Bandt, the Greens party room met again on Sunday for an update ahead of another meeting on Monday where they are expected to decide.
However, on the $10 billion Housing Affordability Future Fund, the Greens and the government are worlds apart because the government is refusing to budge. The government has no intention of acceding to such a demand, which would be prohibitively expensive and unworkable. Housing Minister Julie Collins said the government was doing more on affordable housing than just the HAFF.
