The Social Democrats leader said the Government was in “denial” regarding the housing crisis, and were ignoring homelessness figures, regular protests and “even the warnings from employers”.
Mr O’Callaghan said bringing these empty homes back into use could have “a transformative effect on supply”. The Dublin Bay North TD said while the party wasn’t fixated that the rate must be set at 10 per cent, it had to be “a serious rate”. Mr McGrath added that he would keep the operation of the vacancy homes tax under review, including the rate of the tax.
This WOMAN will get that House in Order ..🤦🏼♀️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
She's your new heroine isn't she, you're going to push her until your eyes pop. Another great saviour who'll turn into FFG just like all the others 🙄
HollyCairnsTD Tell that to the Healy-Raes 🤣🤣
Won't build anything faster though 🤷
HollyCairnsTD U See It's There Cronies So They Don't Want Too HighTax
It is laughable, plenty of the homes neigbouring me are owned by wealthy individuals who only seem to use them when they're up visiting people in Dublin at Christmas, or for the occasional sporting event. Such a waste.
Fair dues to Cairns, she's lasering in on housing as THE issue but also identifying the current mistakes the government is making. At least that's more useful than SF's continuous whinge/whine.
Commie
Don't care, all complicit, won't be voting for any of her party anytime soon or in the near future, that's a given 💯
Socialists want to introduce massive taxes, what's new ?
Local council acquired a vacant house after a number of years on a street location, tight site. Going to build 3 apartments, plans looked great, went to tender pre covid €750k. Councillors nearly fell out of there chairs when told cost. Covid hit site still vacant.
Well she'd know about it as a very fond of virtue signalling themselves.
It would probably take longer to restore a vacant house then to build a new one that is more up to date in layout
She’s absolutely right 👍 well said
*Holly* and *vacant* in the same sentence; that’s the only thing that makes sense here.
Let them build afordable public houses on your 30 acre farm. Put up or shut up as the saying goes.
Surely it’s up to those who own their own property to do what they like with it. Since when did owning a second property come with obligations to give to the State if not using it?
Little upstart
Bimbo. Best ignored.
It's designed to give every possible concession to landlords (such as the ones in government) so that they can sit on sites and grow the value of their portfolios. Money is what matters to FFG, not people (unless they're people with a lot of money).
