Court deems dilapidated Grant Hill property a 'public nuisance,' orders renovations or demolition [Breaking]

A run-down multi-unit property in Grant Hill that had been occupied by squatters and damaged by several fires was declared a “public nuisance” last week, according to the San Diego City Attorney’s Office.

City Attorney Mara Elliott said in the news release that the property owner, who lives in Jamul, had been ordered repeatedly to clean up the property, but failed to do so. The residential units include a house on the north side of the property, a single bedroom dwelling on the east side, and a two-story duplex consisting of two separate one-bedroom apartments on the south side.

Fire Marshal Anthony Tosca determined that the conditions at the property “pose a significant fire and life-safety hazard to the occupants, first responders, and the community,” according to the complaint.
