Public Security officials said at a briefing that lightening strikes sparked no less than 100 fires in the course of five or six hours over the weekend. Environment Canada expected the particulates in the air in Quebec to become heavier Monday afternoon and continue into Tuesday. Smog especially affects children with asthma and people with respiratory conditions. Those people are urged to limit strenuous activity and stay indoors when possible.
