and the former SeaWorld property in an acquisition the city is calling an “opportunity of a lifetime.”
The city would pay approximately $4.5 million to Industrial Commercial Properties for the land with hopes of developing the property into a public park with a pool, beach, boating and other amenities. In November 2020, ICP acquired the remaining 377 acres that had once been the home of Geauga Lake Amusement Park and SeaWorld Ohio.
The city will spend $1.3 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds, with the remainder of the money used for the acquisition coming out of the city’s budget. As part of the agreement, ICP would build a “Lake Loop” trail or boardwalk around the lake. The company will pay for a “substantial portion” of the demolition cost of some of the remaining structures.
