“You couldn’t see anything but this brown wall, it was this black and brown colour — I’ve never seen that colour in my life,” said Francis. “Trees were snapped like matchsticks, houses were severely damaged. The tornado was really wide and the damage speaks to that.Damage is shown after a tornado touched down causing damage and undetermined injuries near Didsbury, Alberta, north of Calgary on Saturday, July 1, 2023.Nicki Kosic, who lives on the north edge of Carstairs also made a video recording of the tornado, saying it was several hundred metres from her home at its closest.
