The Greens in Victoria claim that Premier Daniel Andrews is obsessed by politics and have accused him of doing nothing to address the housing crisis, amid a tense back-and-forth.

Mr Andrews declared he was not in the business of taking lectures from the GreensHe went on to describe the minor party as being in"the cheap seats" as they were simply"voyeurs" to political discourse. The comments came after the Victorian Greens renters' rights spokesperson Gabrielle de Vietri took to the airwaves to blast the government over its failure to support renters.

“The Premier likes to arrogantly dismiss the Greens as unimportant, but he must be in a different Parliament to the rest of us, as they will likely rely on us to pass their upcoming planning reforms,” she said. “If Labor is serious about tackling the housing crisis and ensuring our support for these planning reforms, they need to guarantee that 50 per cent of new homes are public or affordable, and introduce a two-year rent freeze.”

"For too long, Labor has oversimplified the problem and opened the floodgates to private development, which has done nothing to solve the housing crisis," she said.
