“Crews quickly started a fire attack while checking for occupants of both the source home and exposed home on the one side,” fire officials said. “Due to the size of the fire, aerial streams and large volume hose lines were required to attack the fire and protect other exposed homes.”Calgary firefighters tackle a blaze in Saddle Ridge on Wednesday, July 5, 2023.“The source home and neighbouring home suffered extensive damage and will be uninhabitable,” the fire department said in its statement.
Four other houses suffered damage to their siding. Residents were allowed to return after the fire was put out and firefighters conducted air quality tests.Firefighters remained at the scene all night to monitor the buildings involved in the blaze, officials said, and the investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
