Where does all the $ go that the feds pay... between the payment to the bands and the actual $ getting to the members there is a disconnect. Forensic audits are needed for a lot of band councils.
My initial reaction to this was “why didn’t the home owners deal with the mould issue sooner?” Then I looked up the community on a map. It’s extremely remote and isolated. If you wanted to fix a leak or replace drywall, you are out of luck because it all has to get flown in.
But no refugees have mold where they are housed. Need a leader who puts Canadians first!!!!!!!
It is not a national disgrace at all. Bands are given millions of 🇨🇦tax $ every year. The disgrace is how this money has not been spent properly over the years. Accountability must be insisted upon.
Sad situation, but I think a lot of Canadians are asking ‘why is this my fault’, i.e. why is this a national disgrace? Why is it everyone else’s fault when indigenous people need a home, need water, need heat, need jobs, need transportation, need anything? It’s perplexing.
