Homes evacuated following gas leak in Londonderry

Residents in the O'Donovan Road area of the city had been asked to keep their windows and doors closed

A number of people who were evacuated from their homes after a gas leak in Londonderry have now returned. The gas leak in the Culmore area of Derry led to police urging the public to avoid the area on Monday. Residents around O'Donovan Road were asked to keep their windows and doors closed. A community hall was also opened for people impacted.

The road was closed for a time but has since reopened and police thanked local residents for their patience.
