In light of a recent Star investigation that found some of the city’s least expensive homes are being overtaxed while many mansions catch a break, Toronto’s incoming mayor says she wants to see a review of Ontario’s property assessment system. She joins assessment industry insiders, opposition MPPs and homeowners in seeking answers from the province and the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation , Diana Zlomislic and Kenyon Wallace report.

Doug Ford’s government has released its first comprehensive electricity planning document as demand for power increases. While it proclaims that Ontario’s future comprises “clean electricity,” it doesn’t say if the grid will be entirely net-zero, a necessary factor in avoiding the worst effects of climate change, Marco Chown Oved writes.Making a net-zero pledge is becoming standard for governments and businesses globally, said Rachel Doran, director of policy and strategy at Clean Energy Canada.
