Real estate magnate Manuel Villar plans to tap a Korean company to operate a new $1-billion casino and hotel complex

within his 3,500-hectare estate in southern part of Metro Manila this year and develop a second casino in the coming years.

“We are finalizing talks with a Korean firm to operate the casino for us. We will probably start operating this year, or at the latest first quarter of next year,” Villar told reporters Tuesday. “The first floor of the mall will be converted into casino, while the upper floors will be converted into hotel rooms,” Villar said.

He said aside from the casino, his group also planned to put up more residential, commercial and office developments as well as a concert venue and a theme park.
