A man has died in hospital following a deadly fire that tore through three homes in inner-Brisbane over the weekend.

Hugh Walker, 66 – who had become trapped in his home for much longer than the others – suffered multiple burn injuries to his head, chest, arms, back, and legs.

Inspector Steve Newland from the Queensland Police Service said Ms Walker told police she had heard a loud bang inside the house and then witnessed smoke emerging from behind a dishwasher, which her husband went to investigate.
