Unfortunately, when crimes are reported, not only property is seized but people. Reports are false but police are not concerned. Bodies AND property are seized on false reports. California was sued and the police practice of seizing based on false reports is lessening.

RBG hasn’t written an ascending SCOTUS opinion in forever. You go girl!

Great decision. Abuses of this policy have been extensively documented and become an incentive that can impact decisions made by the police. It may be a plus for taxpayers but unfortunately it makes today's police departments not much better than the pirates of the 18th Century.
