A West Lothian community centre and petrol station will be transformed into 25 affordable homes, under new plans. The almost two-acre brownfield site in Ash Grove is on the northern side of the road across from the recently built Partnership Centre which now acts as home to the community centre.
After a proposed deal fell through in 2021, the site was openly remarketed for sale for a second time in May and a number of commercial offers were received. There were no expressions of interest received from the community. Depute leader of the council Kirsteen Sullivan said: “I think we all know there’s a pressing need for affordable housing ... so I do look forward to seeing this area redeveloped.”
“The sale of unused land is therefore an important funding stream. There are obviously added benefits to the community in that unused land is regenerated.”
