Work is set to begin this month on 47 new homes for social rent in the east of the city.

Wheatley Homes, Scotland’s largest social landlord, is developing land at Shandwick Street, Easterhouse, which has been empty since tenements were demolished in 2012.It will provide a mix of one and two-bedroom terraced homes, semi-detached and cottage flats on the Easterhouse site. Six flats will be wheelchair adaptable.

They added a community benefits clause in Wheatley new-build and investment contracts means jobs and training opportunities will be provided during the project.
