A hundred more homes to lose part of gardens to bus corridors

The NTA announced last year a total of 1,300 property owners could lose part of their front gardens under the core bus corridor project. However, in recent months there were indications this figure could rise slightly.

The authority is expected to publish details of the final six corridors on Tuesday afternoon. It has offered one-to-one meetings with affected property owners and is organising information and community forums for the final batch of corridors. The NTA has previously said those affected will lose on average one to two metres of their front garden but that some properties could lose up to four metres. Those affected will receive an average compensation payment of about €25,000.

Would it really paint the IT to explain the benefits as well as the negatives so that people could form an informed opinion. Greatly increased bus speeds will improve 10,000s of peoples lives.

Stop sensationalising and fear mongering with projects that are for the long term good of the City. This publication is just as responsible for holding the City back as NIMBY politicians.

Starting to think The Irish Times just hates Public Transport.

How abt turning 100 buses into overnight accommodations for homeless?

This is an outrage! Only the poor should be made give up their already tiny gardens.

Why do you consistently fail to mention that everyone who loses a slice of land will be handsomely compensated? You'd swear they were simply planning to send in the bulldozers and rip the griselinia hedges apart and knock the breezeblock walls without bye or leave.
