This rich area provides homes for a variety of native wildlife, including ducks and geese in the winter and breeding waders, dragonflies and peat bog plants in spring and summer

Campfield Marsh, on the shores of the Solway Firth, is a natural mosaic of saltmarsh, peatbogs, farmland and wet grassland.

This is an ideal first point of call to explore and learn about the natural landscape of the Solway. The Solway Wetlands Centre is open year round, 10am to 4pm, and is packed full of useful information about wildlife.As you can guess, our walk of the week is Campfield Marsh. OS’s new ‘Pathfinder Lake District and Cumbria gave us the idea for the walk.

Once you've finished this walk you could head to a 'weird and wonderful' cafe in Silloth that has amazing hot chocolates and ice cream sundaes you don't want to miss. The Fairydust Emporium is a stone's throw away from Silloth beach and is known for its quirky décor and warm customer service. Initially, it was a retail store for pre-loved items such as bags, clothes and hats, also serving up a warm drink and a slice of cake on the side. But years later, Vicky decided she'd take the plunge and transform her business to fit within the hospitality sector - something she already had experience in.
