The number of houses being considered for the site, running adjacent to the current John Walker estate, is not yet known.
But the site appears to be longer than the existing Whiskies housing development, based off of Western Road. A screening request for an Environmental Impact Assessment was submitted to East Ayrshire Council planners. The report determines whether or not a planned project is likely to have significant effects on the environment. But council officials ruled that an EIA was not required.The site itself runs adjacent to the Kilmarnock to Glasgow railway line and alongside the spine of the John Walker estate and extending beyond it, past Kilmaurs Road and into Altonhill.Further details are expected at a later stage.
