CMHC sets target to make housing affordable for every Canadian by 2030

The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. said Friday that meeting that target will take help from governments and the economy -- hence the aspirational nature of the goal.

The plan says hitting the mark will also require removing barriers to housing based on gender, race, sexual orientation and gender identity. "One of the weaknesses, I think, in the thinking here is trying to do too many things for too many people with too little resources," said Tim Richter, president of the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness.

And it is also promising to hand out at least $100 million over three years to try new affordable-housing models through three large-scale experiments -- either regional or national -- and track how well other ideas are performing.

How? By increasing supply? How would CMHC increase supply?

2030...? That long? It’ll never happen.

Yeah, they are expecting early baby boomers to be dead and market flooded with a houses for sale.

It sounds like the big 5 banks are behind this. Just another scheme for them to make more money on TAXPAYERS expense. meanwhile the TAXPAYERS loses if there is the housing crisis.

It's simple. Put a stop to the few that's control all the Land Servicing in major urban centres. In the GTA land is 75% the cost of a new home. It used to be 25%. Also Municipalities need to stop with so called Development Charges aka another Tax that the buyer ends up paying.

Hows this helping me now? And who will even remember this lovely promise in 10yrs
