According to jail records, Debra Catledge, 63, of Cherokee, faces 15 counts of animal cruelty and one charge of obstructing government operations. She was released from the Colbert County Jail Sunday on $12,250 bond.
Catledge’s arrest came after 29 dead horses were discovered Friday morning, along with at least 10 horses that appeared undernourished, and 45 dogs. The surviving animals were confiscated from the property. The Colbert County Animal Shelter closed that day to deal with the animals, and have asked for donations of hay and feed to care for the horses.
