People in the community were thankful for the variety and amount of shops

New Basford is among suburbs of Nottingham with the NG7 postcode where the average house price has risen sharply. According to data from the Land Registry the average house went for £232,618.30 in NG7, in the 12 months to August 2023.

Some residents of New Basford said the area had much potential, with people praising the local pubs, shops and bus links. Taxi driver Raj Aziz, 26, said: “I like New Basford, I’ve lived here for five years. I think it has potential - we have a gym, Aldi, Sainsbury’s, and McDonald’s."But there are places - like everywhere in New Basford - that don’t look great, the old church is abandoned, there are empty buildings and houses but there’s not much that can be done about that.

“It’s a very residential area New Basford and I’ve lived here for two years, I’ve never had a problem and my house wasn’t exactly cheap.” Ash Wilkinson, 31, of New Basford, said: "The good thing about New Basford is there’s always a shop open. Not every area has that so we’re lucky in that sense but it’s a tricky area; it’s not all bad but it’s definitely not all good either.” Almost 300 homes were sold in NG7 areas in the year to August just gone, the data shows.
