The upper floors of a building on Upper Parliament Street could be turned into 29 student studios

Nottingham residents have expressed mixed opinions about plans to build 29 student residential studios in a Victorian property in the city centre. A planning application to turn the upper floors of the building at 104-106 Upper Parliament Street into student accommodation is currently being considered.

The upper floors of the three-story property, built in 1893, are currently occupied by a social club and dance studio. Nottingham residents have expressed mixed feelings about the proposals.Edward Njunge, 35, said more housing is a 'positive' thing for the city. He said: "I think accommodation is good for everybody. I know student flats aren't exactly everyone's cup of tea but I think more housing is something positive for the city.

She explained: "I am a student and I'm here for the plans because we have two big universities in the city. I think student accommodation isn't limited at the moment, but with the popularity of both universities growing, more students will be coming in so more accommodation will be needed.
