Humza Yousaf has said that Scotland is ready to open its doors to refugees from Gaza and called on the international community to set-up a scheme to help resettle families.
He spoke about scenes of "carnage" in Gaza, where his brother-in-law works as a doctor, as medical staff are forced to choose between who to treat and who will die.READ MORE: Glasgow's 'draconian' low emission zone scheme had no legal justification, court hears "In the past, people in Scotland and across the UK have opened our hearts and our homes and welcomed those from Syria, Ukraine and many other countries. We must do so again.
"I am calling on the UK Government to take two urgent steps. Firstly, they should immediately begin work on the creation of a refugee resettlement scheme for those in Gaza who want to, and are able to, leave."
