The red warning for rain covers parts of eastern Scotland and highlights the possibility of danger to life from flood water, extensive flooding to homes and businesses and severely disrupted travel conditions.started being felt late on Tuesday and into Wednesday, the Met Office said, but the worst of the weather will be from Thursday until Saturday.
As the rain moves northwards it will stall across central and eastern parts of Scotland, where it will become heavy and persistent.Strong south-easterly winds will also create dangerous conditions along the east coast of the UK, with large waves an additional hazard. “One hundred to 150mm of rain is expected to fall quite widely within the warning period, with some locations likely to see 200-250mm, which is expected to cause considerable impacts, with flooding likely.”
