The south-west facing penthouse sold after six months and a new sales campaign with new agents.Advertisement
The apartment atop the Eastpoint Tower at Edgecliff sold for closer to $4 million, according to a well-placed local source, well below the initial $5 million to $5.5 million range offered when it hit the market at the start of spring.Credit:At the time it was hoped to beat the tower’s $5.1 million record set by the north-facing penthouse next door, which was sold in 2018 by former car dealer Neil Sutton to developer John Roth.
Sotheby’s International took over the listing more recently with no publicised guide, and agents Harriet France and Mary Lin declined to comment on the result. Caddick purchased the penthouse in her name in 2016 for $2.55 million, then persuaded her parents Barb and Ted Grimley to pay $1 million for a one-third ownership and a life tenancy. However, as was the case with Caddick’s friends and family – from whom she stole about $23.5 million – she didn’t pay down the mortgage and instead spent the money on jewellery, luxury cars and a jet-setter’s lifestyle.
